They say that a smile is the universal greeting. It is also one of the first things to be noticed about a person. So, shouldn’t a smile always be healthy and beautiful? Unfortunately, cavities and other dental issues are common across the U.S. But don’t fret! We have compiled a list of the top 4 factors that will ensure a healthy, sparkling smile.

Floss, Floss, Floss

A dentist reminds time and time again that it’s crucial to floss daily. It’s the truth! Flossing gets rid of the plaque between teeth and can protect from tooth decay and gum disease.

Brush 2x Per Day

Brushing teeth twice a day is crucial to having healthy teeth. Seems obvious, right? Unfortunately, on average 3 out of 10 Americans don’t brush their teeth as often as they should. Brushing teeth morning and night will protect teeth from bacteria, cavities, and gum disease, so don’t skip it!

Eat A Healthy, Balanced Diet

Maintaining a healthy diet isn’t good for just your physical health, but your oral health too. When possible, avoid consuming food and drinks with processed sugar or starches as they tend to get stuck in between teeth and attract bacteria.

Visit Your Dentist Regularly

Even if you have great dental hygiene, it’s important to see your dentist on a regular basis. Your toothbrush and floss just don’t always cut it. Visiting your dentist will ensure your smile is in top shape by restoring cleanliness, ridding the mouth of cavities, and preventing other dental issues that may arise.

It is our hope that all of our patients take the necessary steps to maintain good oral health. We want everyone to have a shining smile that is healthy and beautiful. If you have questions or would like to schedule an appointment, be sure to contact us!
